The police have booked a woman on a complaint of her husband for providing false certificates while applying for the Australian Permanent Residence (PR) and visa.

Complainant Baljeet Singh, a resident of Staff Enclave in Rajpura, told the police that he, along with his wife, went to Australia after their marriage in 2007.

The police said the couple was deported back to India due to a forged document submitted by the wife. The accused had submitted a false certificate of IELTS to the Australian Government when the couple applied for the Permanent Residence (PR) of Australia in 2007.

The police said the fake certificate was sent to the accused in Australia by her uncle from Chandigarh.

According to the police, the photo on the certificate did not match with that of the accused and consequent upon that they were deported.

Later, when the accused again applied for an Australian visa, all documents submitted by her were found to be false by the Punjab Police during an investigation.

The police said for the second time, the accused had applied for the visa in the name of Joban Preet Kaur instead of her previous name Joban Sidhu. The accused also submitted a fake Aadhaar card.

The police said in 2016, the husband was booked under Section 324 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) on a complaint of her wife.

The Rajpura SHO said, “We have registered a case against Preet Kaur on a complaint of Baljeet Singh and the investigation is on.”
