108 ambulance service completes 4 yrs in Punjab

MOHALI: A function was held at the Punjab Health Systems Corporation (PHSC) here today to mark the completion of four years of the 108 ambulance service in the state.

A function was held at the Punjab Health Systems Corporation (PHSC) here today to mark the completion of four years of the 108 ambulance service in the state.

Surjit Kumar Jyani, Minister for Health and Family Welfare, was the chief guest. Among those present were Hussan Lal, Managing Director, PHSC, Naresh Jain, Managing Director, Ziqitza Health Care Ltd (ZHL), and Ravi Krishna, Director, ZHL.

The company operating the 108 ambulance services in Punjab, ZHL, under the public-private partnership with the state government, organised a reward and recognition function for its drivers and the support staff for their contribution to make the services beneficial to the common man. As many as 10.51 lakh patients have benefited from the services.

Jyani appreciated the efforts of the ambulance crew and the 108 staff to save lives.

Jitendra Sharma, Project Head, 108 ambulance, and regional head of the ZHL, said all 240 ambulances were connected with the 108 ambulance control room located at Amritsar through the GPS.

He said most of the cases attended by 108 ambulance were of pregnant women. They were dropped at government hospitals and taken back home post-delivery.

The services were also used by others to save their own and others’ lives in road and trauma accidents, he said.
