Jammu, August 13

The Army at Mendhar is empowering women of the area so that they can help themselves and also assist each other by providing basic medical support at the time of need.

Through its unique initiative, the Army has undertaken the task to educate the local women. It conducted a workshop on nursing at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Mendhar, from August 8 to 13.

The workshop trained the local girls in basic healthcare and treatment. The training has equipped the girls with skills needed to not only maintain personal health and hygiene but also assist other women.

A total of 150 girls were trained under the guidance of a senior Military Nursing Officer. They were educated about various local diseases, taught preventive care and first aid as part of the curriculum.

The skills imparted during the workshop have started health awareness among the local community. — TNS
