In yet another incident of chain snatching, a 60-year-old woman received a minor injury after she gave a tough fight to two snatchers in Sector 21 today. The accused managed to flee from the spot after snatching her gold chain. This is the fifth incident of snatching reported in the city in the last 48 hours.

The victim, Mohini, along with her son Mukesh, residents of Sector 21, had gone for a walk at 7.30 am. Sources said while Mukesh came back home, his mother went to a nearby Verka booth to get milk.

When she was returning home, a youth standing near her house came and tried to snatch her gold chain. His accomplice was waiting on a motorcycle a few meters ahead.

Mohini gave a tough fight to the snatcher who struggled to snatch the chain. Seeing this, the other accused came on foot and snatched the chain.

The duo, fearing that the victim might chase them and note down the registration number of the motorcycle, took away her spectacles.

The woman raised the alarm following which her son rushed to the spot. However, the accused managed to flee from the spot.

The police was informed about the incident after which it arrived at the spot and started an investigation.

The snatching incidents have instilled fear among the residents, especially women, who feel roads are not safe enough to walk alone.

The incidents, that have taken place in the wee hours and in broad daylight, has raised concerns over the safety of the residents.
