Bank official gets 4-year jail in corruption case

PANIPAT: Additional District and Session Judge Rajesh Kumar Bhankhar today sentenced Vinod Kumar Gupta, chief executive officer of the Panipat Central Co-operative bank, to four-year jail for accepting bribe of Rs 20,000 from the owner of a medical store.

Additional District and Session Judge Rajesh Kumar Bhankhar today sentenced Vinod Kumar Gupta, chief executive officer of the Panipat Central Co-operative bank, to four-year jail for accepting bribe of Rs 20,000 from the owner of a medical store. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on him.

Vinod Kumar Gupta, had demanded bribe from Naresh Kumar, a medical store owner, to renew his account’s cash credit limit to Rs 10 lakh. Naresh Kumar complained to the State Vigilance Bureau. Gupta was caught accepting the bribe on January 30, 2015. — TNS
