Former Chief Minister PK Dhumal today said the present Congress regime neither had the vision, policy nor intentions to fulfil the promises it made to the people of the state during the 2012 Assembly poll.

In a statement issued here today, Dhumal said the Chief Minister had refused to fulfil the promises made by the Congress in its election manifesto. “What is surprising is that the CM has referred to the Congress leaders who prepared the manifesto as incapable and inexperienced,” he said.

He said there was rampant corruption in almost every field, be it land, forest, mining, liquor or transfer. He said this had had a very adverse impact on the development of the state.

He said Congress rule in the state had proved to be a virtual curse for farmers and fruit growers with work on all the schemes and projects started for them during the BJP regime had come to a halt.

He said the Congress was anti-farmer and anti-fruit growers. “Despite growers appreciating the positive results of anti-hail guns, the government has stopped the scheme and the growers are installing the equipment out of their own money,” he said. He said work on the biggest marketing yard at Parala in Shimla district, started during the BJP regime, had been stopped.

He said the Apple Rejuvenation scheme too had met the same fate. “During our regime, we provided assistance to growers who set up 18,000 polyhouses while during Congress rule a mere 950 polyhouses have been set up,” he said.
