Mussoorie, April 12

Former Mussoorie MLA Jot Singh Gunsola released a Garhwali short film titled “Saunjadia Ku Akhri Saath”, depicting the pain of migration and love for the native place, at a hotel here today. The film is based on the problem of migration from hills in the state and its impact on society at large. The protagonist of the film is an old man who returns to his village and finds that the people he grew up with are no more alive.

Gunsola said the film gives a message to Uttarakhandis living around the world to return to their native place and contribute to the development story of the state.

He said migration had become a major problem for the state and no one was left to listen to the painful tales of elderly people still living in villages. He praised the artistes in the film and said it also succeeded in promoting local dialects effectively. The need of the hour was to look within and promote our culture, food and festivals and for that we all need to make concerted efforts, he added.

Principal of Mussoorie Public School Mukesh Lal said the film depicted the reality of the hills and every person should watch it to understand the problems being faced by hill people.

Pradeep Bhandari has directed and produced the film. He said the film was an effort to create awareness about the problems being faced by the people of hill districts of the state.
