Bhiwani, October 13

Upset over the schedule of buses for Bhiwani, several college students from Taalu village today blocked the Jind-Bhiwani road. The protesters demanded a special bus so that they could continue their studies smoothly.

Notably, several girl students from Taalu and nearby villages have to travel to Bhiwani everyday to attend their classes in Women Government College and Bansi Lal University. The protesters said: “We reach the main bus stand as early as 7am to catch a bus for college, but most of the time they have to wait for hours and the bus does not arrive.” A girl protester said: “Sometimes when the bus arrives, it remains packed to its capacity and they have to face harassment and molestation from male passengers.”

The protesters said that their studies were being affected due to their late arrival to college on daily basis. The blockade led to traffic snarls on both sides of the road.

On getting intimation, Mundhal chowki in charge Mahender Singh reached the spot and pacified the protesters with an assurance to take up their grievances with General Manager of the roadways for appropriate action.
