After detecting a Rs-45 crore land scam, Jind Deputy Commissioner has written to the Financial Commissioner, Revenue (FCR), Haryana, for departmental action against the officials of the Revenue Department involved in it. He also demanded a high-level investigation by the vigilance bureau into it.

Five sub-registrars of the Revenue Department allegedly allowed the sale 180 acres of agriculture land of Schedule Caste societies to private persons. During investigations by a special team of Revenue Department officials under the supervision of Ajit Balaji Joshi, Deputy Commissioner, Jind, the involvement of sub-registrars of the department, including Raj Kumar, Sukhbir Singh, Subhash Chander, Mahinder Singh and Lachman Dass verma, posted at various places, have come to light in the scam.

The above said officials during their postings in Uchana, Safidon and Pillukhera tehsils during the last few years allegedly allowed the sale of SC society agriculture land in violation of norms and pocketed huge amounts.

As per information, many years ago, the government had allotted land to Scheduled Caste societies at village level and heads of below poverty line families were made members of these societies. As per society norms, society members could not sell the lands of their societies as they only had cultivating rights. Though they could not sell lands of their societies to other persons, they could pass the possession of their allotted land to their coming generations.

“We have detected that the five sub-registrars of the Revenue Department allowed the sale of total 180 acres of the Scheduled Caste society land in violation of norms. I have written to the FCR for strict departmental action against them and for a high-level inquiry by the vigilance bureau.

The market price of the land is Rs 25 lakh per acre and till date the authorities have detected illegal sale of 180 acres of land worth Rs 45 crore.
