Mayor Arun Sood on Wednesday declared to stop the challaning drive against rehri-richshaw pullers in the city.

After the notification of rehri-rickshaw bylaws, the MC had started a drive against rehris and rickshaw pullers yesterday and impounded 47 rehris and richshaws.

The Chandigarh MC has decided not to charge any fine from those whose rickshaws were impounded yesterday.

Meanwhile, Congress councillors sat on a dharna outside the MC General House to protest against the remarks of nominated councillor Dr Shagufta Praveen against the Congress councillors and its leaders.

They ended their protest after the Mayor’s assurance to speak on the issue in the MC house meeting.
