Dehradun, July 20

Uttarakhand Congress has sought preference for state agitationists in recruitment of posts in various commissions and  statutory bodies.

Former state Congress president Kishore Upadhyay, who led a Congress delegation to Cabinet minister Madan Kaushik, asserted that a large number of people devoted their young age to the cause of creation of Uttarakhand. It was now the duty of the state to recognise their sacrifice.

He said state agitationists had been left in the lurch. Many of them were searching for employment. He said the state government must ensure that these state agitationists got preference in the recruitment to posts in various commissions and other statutory bodies.

He said it had come to notice that people, who did not belong to Uttarakhand, had been recruited to various posts in various commissions, which was not fair and would be opposed at all costs. “There is no dearth of talent in Uttarakhand and thus there is no point in recruiting people from outside the state”, Upadhyay pointed out.

Senior Congress leaders Joth Singh Bisht and Mathura Dutt Joshi were part of the delegation that met the minister.
