Residents of six villages of the district yesterday served an ultimatum on the administration to restore water supply in the dried up Rajbah irrigation channel. The decision was taken at a gathering held at the Brahman Dharmashala in Igrah village. Residents Jamni Khera, Khanda Kheri, Bibipur, Buana, Igrah and Dharma Kheri villages participated in the meeting.

Villagers said there was no water in the channel for the past 12 years. They had informed the authorities several times but to no avail.

Manbir Singh, resident of Igrah village, said, “Following our protest on July 25, the administration had assured us that water supply would be restored in the channel before July 31, but nothing happened. ” Executive Engineer (Water Services ) Banarsi Dass said, “The water channel had been cleaned and repaired. The water supply is likely to be restored by tomorrow.”
