The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) is believed to have cleared the name of Dr RK Gupta, a senior professor and head of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, PGIMS, Rohtak, for director of the institute.
This comes at a time when the Haryana Government is yet to take a final call on a proposal to scrap the post of director.
Sources told The Tribune that the state government functionaries, including ministers and senior bureaucrats, were divided on the issue. One camp wants the Director’s post to be scrapped, while the other thinks otherwise.
A search committee constituted for the selection of the PGIMS Director had recommended three candidates — Dr MC Gupta and Dr RK Gupta from the PGIMS and another from outside the institute.
