Shimla, August 24

The High Court today directed the state government to produce the entire record relating to the transfers of the Deputy Commissioner, Una, and the ASP, Baddi.

While passing this direction, a Division Bench comprising state High Court Chief Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir and Justice Sandeep Sharma observed that “we have gone through so many news items relating to the transfer of ASP, Baddi, because of the fact that he intercepted the tipper, allegedly owned by wife of an MLA, which was involved in illegal mining and drawn action under law, as alleged in the news report.”

The High Court further observed that “some of the newspapers have also reported that without following the mandate of the transfer policy occupying the field, the Deputy Commissioner, Una, has been unceremoniously transferred on the pretext that he was taking steps to curb mining and started a drive against violations in Una, as alleged in the news report.”

The High Court also directed the state to inform the court what were the reasons which necessitated the transfer of the Deputy Commissioner, Una, and the ASP, Baddi.

The court passed this order on a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) on the issue of illegal mining in the state.
