Health Minister Anil Vij has asked Bollywood actor Aamir Khan to review his statement given over “rising intolerance” in the country. Recently at a function, Aamir had said his wife Kiran Rao had asked him if they should move out of the country as “she feared for the safety of their children in a climate of insecurity”.

Talking to mediapersons here today, the minister said it was an “untimely and unnecessary” statement which could not be appreciated at any level.

He asked Aamir not to indulge in such controversial issues as he was known for his clean and social image.

The minister alleged that some of the so-called secular people had been raking up intolerance issue at the behest of Pakistan. He said, “Pakistan has been hatching a conspiracy against India so that it could not get permanent membership in the United Nations Security Council”.

“In 1984 when a large number of Sikhs were massacred, the so-called secularists were tight-lipped. Those secular forces should have also raised their voice when the Congress had divided the country on the basis of religion in 1947,” the minister said.

While criticising Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for his “double standards”, Vij said, “Before the Bihar Assembly elections, Kejriwal was opposing Lalu Yadav, but now he was embracing him for political benefits”. He said Rahul Gandhi had become the symbol of “immature behaviour”.
