A 30-year-old woman died of swine flu at the PGIMS here on Monday. The woman was admitted at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the institute’s Day-Care Centre.
The deceased has been identified as Pinky Rani of Bahadurgarh town in Jhajjar district. She was admitted to the PGIMS for 10 days.
While the incidence of dengue fever abates by this time of the year, the prevalence of swine-flu usually coincides with the advent of winter.
Tackling swine-flu poses a much bigger challenge as it is a highly-communicable disease and can prove much more fatal than dengue.
Hence, an isolated ward has been set up at the PGIMS to take care of the infected patients.
