21 new bus routes in Hamirpur

HAMIRPUR: The Regional Transport Office (RTO) has proposed 21 new bus routes in the district. The state government had announced starting of 500 new routes to check overloading in buses after the June 20 Banjar accident that claimed 45 lives.

The Regional Transport Office (RTO) has proposed 21 new bus routes in the district. The state government had announced starting of 500 new routes to check overloading in buses after the June 20 Banjar accident that claimed 45 lives.

The RTO had identified 21 routes, where overloading was taking place. Now, these routes would be given to private operators.

Virender Sharma, Regional Transport Officer, said 21 new bus routes would cover the entire district. The buses on these routes would cover towns and villages, including Nadaun, Dhaneta, Galore, Deotsidh, Maharal, Bhota, Jahu, Bhareri, Uhal, Jungjal Beri and Sujanpur. He said a few routes for Kangra, Palampur, Ghumarwin and Una were also under consideration. These routes would be allotted to private operators only.
