Mandi, November 18

The CPM has decided to field its candidate for the Lok Sabha elections from Mandi district. It was decided during the one-day state convention of the CPM held at Mandi on Sunday.

Talking with reporters here, Onkar Shad, state secretary of the CPM, said, “Our aim is to oust Prime Minister Nerendra Modi-led BJP government out of power from the Centre. The CPM will give support to those parties, who will support secularism. We are not holding any alliance with the Congress or any party but will support on certain points from inside and outside.”

He said at the state convention it was decided that the CPM would project Dalip Kaith as its candidate from Mandi parliamentary constituency. In reply to a query he said out of the four parliamentary constituencies, the CPM would file its candidate only from Mandi parliamentary constituency. CPM leader Rakesh Singha said the BJP and the Congress had failed to provide basic amenities like potable water, better education facilities, healthcare system and road connectivity to the people of the state. Despite law, the state government was reluctant to provide adequate compensation to the fourlane- affected people, who were losing their land and property for development projects.

Targeting the Central government, Singha said the Centre was always biased towards Himachal Pradesh. The Pong dam outsees were still waiting to be rehabilitated, he said.
