Life comes to standstill in Kangra

KANGRA: Heavy rain for the last 38 hours has brought life to a standstill in the Kangra valley.

Kangra, September 23

Heavy rain for the last 38 hours has brought life to a standstill in the Kangra valley. The Dhauldhars continued to receive snow on Sunday, leading to a further dip in the temperatures.

The authorities have announced to keep all government and private schools and anganwari centres closed on Monday in view of an alert issued by the Metrological Department.

DC Sandeep Kumar said the decision had been taken keeping in view the safety of children.

The department has forecast heavy rain with thundershowers in most places of the valley on Monday. Dark clouds covered the sky in the day as well.

SDM Shashi Pal Negi said there was no report of loss of life or property from any part of the Kangra subdivision so far. He said residents had been asked not to go near rivers passing through the valley. — OC
