The Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) has requested Lt-Governor Girish Chandra Murmu to constitute a high-level committee with the participation of stakeholders to examine industrialists’ issues on a priority basis for the extension of fiscal incentives to manufacturing units.

It also alleged limited industrial growth in the manufacturing sector in the post-GST regime due to dilution in fiscal incentives to the existing units.

Releasing a statement today, Lalit Mahajan, president, BBIA, said limited industrial growth was reported in the last three and a half years as only 506 units started production with employment to 8,231 persons in Jammu province.

Though the association appreciated efforts of the UT to attract new investment in the industry, tourism and service sector, it said the need of the hour was to provide all fiscal incentives at par with the manufacturing sector.

“The 5 per cent reimbursement of freight by road on the import of raw materials, 2 per cent reimbursement of invoice value in lieu of CST for interstate units and many other such demands are there which we need to be addressed,” Mahajan said.
