Militant killed in scuffle after PDP worker shot dead in Shopian

SRINAGAR:A ruling Peoples Democratic Party worker was shot dead by militants outside his house in south Kashmir’s Shopian this evening.

A ruling Peoples Democratic Party worker was shot dead by militants outside his house in south Kashmir’s Shopian this evening.

In the scuffle that ensued between the attackers and the family members of the slain PDP worker, a Hizbul Mujahideen militant identified as Showkat Falai was also killed, the police said.

“Three miltants killed ex-panch Mohammad Ramzan in Shopian. In the scuffle between militants and the family following the killing, one militant Showkat was also killed,” J&K Director General of Police Shesh Paul Vaid told The Tribune.

It is for the first time that a militant has been killed in such a situation. 

The police said PDP worker Mohammad Ramzan was shot at near his residence at Huomhuna Imam Sahib, 55 km from Srinagar, at 8 pm. He was reportedly dragged out of his house and shot at point-blank range.
