Punjabi writers’ conference begins in Jammu

JAMMU: A two-day-long All-India Punjabi Writers’ Conference was inaugurated at Abhinav Theatre here on Monday.

A two-day-long All-India Punjabi Writers’ Conference was inaugurated at Abhinav Theatre here on Monday.

The meet has been organised by the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL).

Prof Deepak Manmohan Singh, senior fellow, Punjabi University, Patiala, and eminent writer and critic, was the chief guest, while Khalid Hussain, prominent Punjabi and Urdu short story writer, presided over the function.

Senior Punjabi writer Kanwal Kashmiri presented the keynote address, wherein he appreciated the JKAACL for making the conference a regular feature.

Kanwal said legendary figures contributed to the Punjabi literature of the state, which had rich tradition and culture.
