JALANDHAR: Bringing laurels to his homeland, Jalandhar lad Punit Gulati, an actor, singer and poet, received honour for bringing ethnic communities together and promoting multiculturalism abroad.

Bringing laurels to his homeland, Jalandhar lad Punit Gulati, an actor, singer and poet, received honour for bringing ethnic communities together and promoting multiculturalism abroad.

He was honoured at Governor’s House on September 12 with a memento dedicated to his community service, receiving it from Linda Dessau AC, Governor of Victoria and from Robin Scott MP, Minister for Multicultural Affairs, Australia.

Punit, who always aspired to be an actor since his childhood, said, “I always dreamt of being an actor. Luckily I turned my dream true by appearing in a music video directed by an Australia-based Director Snadeep Raj, during my initial days in Melbourne.

“I had been in Australia since 2007, working for a non-profit organisation and currently posted as Manager for Ventilator Support Services,” said Punit. He said he did his bachelor’s degree at community services from Australia and presently working as an artist, singer and poet with focus on tackling bullying, harassment and violence along with motivating people to love cross cultures.

“Having won the title Mr Melbourne 2013, Punit was the first Punjabi to bag an international title. He was also made the White Ribbon Ambassador in 2014. Besides, he was honoured as Regional Ambassador of the year for Australian Football League in 2015 and joined Bully Zero Australia Foundation,”informed Punit’s sister, Preeti Verma.

She said Punit was also voted as Australia’s second sexiest man by Star Central Magazine in 2015. Thereafter he went to Acting School at the University of Melbourne and worked in range of short films and TV Ads for Australian TV, produced his own music in 2016 with T-series.
