It was all joy for Congress MLAs of Hoshiarpur and Chabbewal as Congress swept most of the panchayats in both constituencies.

Brother of Dr Raj Kumar, MLA, Chabbewal, was elected unanimously. For MLA Hoshiarpur and State’s Cabinet Minister results were overwhelming as party-supported candidates won 51 out of 60 panchayats and 5 more joined them.

Arora said, “The newly-elected sarpanchs and panches are now responsible for the development of their respective areas and solving the problems of people. Captain government is dedicated to impartial development and the newly-elected panchayats should also do so without any discrimination.”

Sharing the joy of victory with his supporters, MLA Chabbewal Dr Raj Kumar said, “ The victory of 90% of the Congress-supported panchayats in the Chabbewal constituency is mandate of people as validation of honest and selfless efforts for the betterment and development of his constituency. I will ensure that they don’t have any crunch in carrying out the development works.”

Dr Raj termed the win as an indication of Congress’s win in the coming 2019 Lok Sabha elections. He thanked people of his native village Manjhi for unanimously electing his brother Dr Jatinder Kumar as sarpanch of the village.
