Distribution of safety kits among Municipal Corporation safai karamchari/ragpickers under the ‘Swachhta hi Sewa’ event was organised by the HPCL Jalandhar Retail Regional office in association with the civic body.    

The event was organised at the Red Cross Bhawan here today. Over 300 safety kits were distributed to MC safai karamchari/ragpickers which will help them in doing their job safely. It was attended by Diprava Lakra, Municipal Commissioner, along with Harcharan Singh, Vicky Kalia, Municipal Councillor, Ward No. 64 and Manoj Kumar, Deputy General Manager, HPCL, Jalandhar Regional Office, corporation workers, other officials from the Municipal Corporation and the HPCL.

All safai karamchari/ragpickers were told about the importance of segregation of dry and wet waste and spreading awareness about the same among the public. In this regard an audio/video training session was also organised by corporation.

In his keynote address, Diprava Lakra encouraged the workers and appreciated their work.  Towards the end, safety kits were distributed among the workers. — TNS
