Jalandhar, April 20

Several youths held a dharna outside the police station in Nakodar against the non-inclusion of several sections in the FIR in a complaint of snatching filed by them 12 days ago.

A brother and sister, residents of Heran village, were looted of a motorcycle, money and a mobile phone 12 days ago allegedly by some youths of Malsian village. One of the victims, Daljit, has alleged that the looters were not being acted against, due to pressure, since he was a supporter of a local party candidate.

Youths of the village, who formed the Insaaf Prapti Sangharsh Committee, staged a protest outside the police station, alleging they had been hit by bricks by the suspect youths.

While the police lodged an FIR later in the day, the aggrieved youths said the police FIR had omitted some sections and also not included the stolen motorcycle.

Amar Peter, a member of the committee, said: “The FIR has added Section 379 but not 379-B. The FIR has also not mentioned the stolen motorcycle. We had submitted the complaint 12 days ago but no action was taken till the they hedl the dharna. The youths also attacked us yesterday. These kind of incidents are causing a fear among women. The culprits should be acted against.”

The SHO, Nakodar police station, said: “We have lodged an FIR and will add the requisite sections. We are also on the lookout for the offenders.” — TNS
