1,000 cops to stand guard for World Kabaddi Cup inauguration

As many as 1,000 cops have been deployed in the city to man the security arrangements during the World Kabaddi Cup inauguration to be held at Guru Gobind Singh Stadium tomorrow.

Jalandhar, December 5

As many as 1,000 cops have been deployed in the city to man the security arrangements during the World Kabaddi Cup inauguration to be held at Guru Gobind Singh Stadium tomorrow.

DCP, Naveen Singla, said forces, including senior police officials, had been called from the police districts across the state. Part of the forces would be deployed in and around the stadium for security purposes, while others would be deployed on roads near stadium.

Two teams from the special security group (SSG) have also been called from Chandigarh to offer security to the VVIPs and other dignitaries who will attend the function.

Additional forces from Phillaur Police Academy and Recruits Training Centre (RTC) Jahan Khelan would also be deployed in security duties. Reserve forces would also remain on alert to tackle any sort of urgency. Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs) would also be deployed to tackle urgency.
