A woman was brutally attacked at her house in the Karol Bagh area here today. She had multiple wounds in her neck and was admitted to a private hospital in a critical condition.

According to Santosh Rani, mother of the victim, her daughter got married to Pradeep Singh around four years ago. Since that time, her in-laws, including her mother-in-law Usha Yadav, had been harassing her.

Rani added that Mamta had called her in the morning at 9.55 am and said that she was about to perform Navratra puja at her house. “However, within 10 minutes, she received a call from her in-laws that someone had attacked Mamta with knife. She also said that Mamta was not in a position to talk,” said Santosh Rani.

On the statement given by Santosh Rani, the police rounded up her in-laws and husband. ACP Central Satinder Chaddha confirmed the dispute in the family. “While the mother-in-law wanted to send Mamta out of the house, she was not ready to go,” said Chaddha. He added that investigation was on in the case.
