Youth hangs self to death

Jalandhar, August 14

A 23-year-old youth today committed suicide at his residence in Dhina village. The deceased has been indentified as Rohit Kumar. The youth took the extreme step due to continuous mocking and taunting by some of his relatives.

The kin of the deceased told the police that Rohit was in depression for the past few days. He reportedly committed suicide in the midnight by hanging himself from the ceiling fan of his room.

SHO Sulakhan Singh, Sadar Police Station, who reached the spot in the morning said the deceased didn’t write any suicide note. However, on the statements of his uncle, Balwant Singh, an FIR has been registered against three of his relatives.

The accused have been indentified as Honey, Money and Ravi, all in their 20’s. They have been booked under Section 306 of the IPC (Abetment of Sucide).The SHO said Balwant, in his statement recorded that the accused used to taunt Rohit because of his sister’s marriage to a man of the same village.

Rohit’s mother also protested today by keeping his body on the road. — TNS
