Ahmedgarh residents vow to shun polythene

MANDI AHMEDGARH: Office-bearers and activists of various constitutional, social, medical and educational organisations of the town have vowed to work in tandem for making the region clean and shunning the use of polythene.

Office-bearers and activists of various constitutional, social, medical and educational organisations of the town have vowed to work in tandem for making the region clean and shunning the use of polythene.

An oath was taken in response to the appeal made by officials of the Punjab Municipal Infrastructure Development Company (PMIDC) during a workshop held at the Municipal Council office here on Thursday.

Municipal Council President Suraaj Mohammad presided over the session and PMIDC Director Pooran Singh was the keynote speaker.

Councillors Bhojraj Sharma, Deepak Sharma, Issa Mohammad, Kamaljit Singh Ubhi, Sandeep Thapar, Kedar Kapila, Issa Mohammad, besides Executive Officer Gurdip Singh Bhogal, Sanitary Inspector Tahir Mohammad, Municipal Employees’ Union president Satnam Arora and Safai Mazdoor Union president Chaman Lal were present.

Bhogal said a capacity building technical workshop was held at the Town Hall to strengthen and improve the waste management capabilities of the civic body.

Speakers highlighted various elements of the solid waste management, biomedical waste, electronic waste, construction waste and demolition waste material according to the Waste Management Rules-2016 by the Union Ministry of Urban Development.
