Youth booked for molesting girl

Ludhiana: The Jamalpur police have booked a youth on the charge of outraging the modesty of a minor girl. He has been identified as Rohit Kumar, a resident of Mundian Kalan. The complainant, also a resident of the same locality, told the police that she, along with her father, was going to school when Rohit blocked their way. He made obscene gestures and also tried to molest her. The police have registered a case under Section 354 and 12 of the POCSO Act. TNS

Jammu boy goes missing

Ludhiana: A Jammu-based boy went missing under mysterious circumstances from a guest house. His father, Balam Singh, a resident of Karnal Colony, Jammu, told the police that on February 20, he brought his ailing wife to the DMCH. His son, Ritesh (18), also accompanied them. They hired a room at a guest house from where his son went missing on Friday. The police have launched a manhunt to trace the boy. TNS

Khirni is SAD’s pAC member

Samrala: Former MLA from Samrala Jagjiwan Singh Khirnia has been appointed a member of a political affairs committee (PAC) of the SAD by party president Sukhbir Singh Badal. On Friday, Sukhbir visited Samrala and he was informed that Khirnia was left out of the list of senior leaders.  OC

Capt Karnail joins as ADM

Ludhiana: Capt Karnail Singh has been appointed Additional Managing Director of the Punjab State Cooperative Milk Producers Federation, MILKFED. Capt Karnail Sing joined the service in 2004 after serving in the Indian Army for five years as a veterinary doctor. TNS

Visitor week organised

Khanna: A visitor week is being organised at Sanjh Kendra, Samrala, to make people aware regarding 27 hassle-free services provided at the centre.  SI Jagdev Singh said they would inform about the services, including passport, missing documents and no-objection certificates, among others. OC

Demolition drive

Ludhiana: Around 37 structures were demolished near Jalandhar Bypass on Friday. Earlier, the MC had served notices to property owners for violating the Punjab Regional and Town Planning Act, 1995, at the scheduled roads in the city. The court hearing in a case regarding these violations is scheduled to be held soon. MC took action against structures that were in ambit of 5-metre at a stretch from Samrala Chowk to Sherpur Chowk and Chandigarh Road. Sources said the action was initiated ahead of the High Court hearing. ATP Zone A Mohan Singh said they had served notices on violators. TNS
