Police launch hunt to nab ‘peddler’ who attacked cops

PAYAL: The Payal police have launched a hunt for the suspected ‘drug peddlers’ who had attempted to kill cops at a naka in Aaslapur village on Dhamot-Malerkotla Road near here on Wednesday afternoon.

The Payal police have launched a hunt for the suspected ‘drug peddlers’ who had attempted to kill cops at a naka in Aaslapur village on Dhamot-Malerkotla Road near here on Wednesday afternoon.

The accused who reportedly injured the cops with his SUV car, has been identified as Shingara Singh of Dholan village of Jagraon sub -division. The injured cops were identified as ASI Charanjit Singh and Constable Gurjinder Singh.

Sources said a police party during a nake led by ASI Charnjit Singh was attacked by occupants of a Scorpio bearing number plate PB 10 FW 6869.

Payal DSP Rachhpal Singh Dhindsa said team of cops has launched a hunt for the accused after registering an FIR under section 307 of the IPC.— OC
