Karnataka CM''s son dies in Belgium

BENGALURU: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah''s oldest son died of multi-organ failure at a hospital in Belgium on Saturday, the Chief Minister''s Office said.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's oldest son died of multi-organ failure at a hospital in Belgium on Saturday, the Chief Minister's Office said.

Rakesh Siddaramaiah, 39, was being treated at Antwerp University Hospital in Brussels, where he was taken on Tuesday after he developed sudden complications due to his pancreatic ailment.

He had been on a tour to Europe with his friends last week.

Rakesh had been suffering from an acute pancreatic ailment since it was damaged in an accident 15 years ago.

Siddaramaiah, his wife and second son Yathindra Siddaramaiah — a doctor — and the family doctor had flown to Brussels to be with Rakesh, who is survived by his wife, a son and daughter.

Soon after his son was hospitalised, Siddaramaiah spoke to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj to seek her help in getting his son the best treatment in Belgium. PTI
