The seventh anniversary of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks was marked by a major security scare at the Mumbai airport.

The police said the bomb disposal squad was called on Wednesday evening after an abandoned bag was found near the departure gate of the domestic terminal. However, only some clothes were found in the bag, the police said.

Security was tightened at the airport after an anonymous caller, claiming to be from Pakistan's ISI, threatened to hijack an Air India airplane.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and his Cabinet colleagues and senior Mumbai police officials paid tribute to the martyrs of the 2008 attacks. "I pay homage to the brave policemen who fought for Mumbai’s safety and laid down their lives for us on 26/11. We are proud of them and we will strive hard for safety and security of our state,” Fadnavis said at the memorial for the fallen heroes at the Police Gymkhana grounds. He promised the state government would strengthen the police force and provide better equipment.
