Muktsar, June 19

Former Congress MLA from Muktsar Karan Kaur Brar and PPCC general secretary Jagjit Singh ‘Honey Fattanwala’, on Tuesday held two parallel protests against the Central government for the rise in fuel prices and that, too, just about 1 km away.

Later, however, Karan Kaur and her supporters joined Honey at Sangu Dhaun village on the Bathinda road.

Talking to The Tribune, Honey, who is a cousin of Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal, said, “I had decided last evening to lodge a protest at Sangu Dhaun village on the Bathinda road. Our former MLA Karan Kaur Brar never called me for any protest in the recent past. Even earlier, I have discussed this issue with her. Thus I lodged a protest separately. Later, she along with some party workers joined us.”

On the other hand, Karan Kaur said, “The Congress is united in Muktsar. The protests are planned by the PPCC. It is a party programme and all party activists should come. We are not calling anyone separately. Even today, we had made arrangements for the protest by pitching in a tent at Bhullar village, but when we came to know that Honey along with some workers is lodging a protest on the same issue just 1 km away, we went there. Earlier, Honey had discussed the issue of not inviting him to a public programme, but that was organised by the state government and not me.”
