Tehal Singh (29), a resident of Neyamta village, was allegedly shot by two persons here today.

The accused, identified as Jasbir Singh Shira and Mohinder Singh, are absconding. SSP Swarandeep Singh said the police had launched a manhunt to nab them. One of the accused, Jasbir, is an Army man and was on leave.

“I have formed four teams and hope to nab the accused soon,” he said. The SSP added that both Jasbir and Mohinder had a heated argument with the deceased over the affair of a woman known to Tehal Singh. Later, the argument turned violent following which Mohinder took out a pistol and shot Tehal Singh in the stomach.

“He was taken to the Gurdaspur Civil Hospital by his sister and one of his friends, identified as Prince Saini, both of whom had reached the spot after somebody informed them that Tehal Singh had entered into a squabble with two persons. However, the doctors declared him brought dead,” said the SSP.
