STF seizes Rs 2-crore tablets, capsules

LUDHIANA: The Special Task Force (STF) arrested two persons and seized banned tablets, capsules, injections and cough syrups worth Rs 2.13 crore from their possession.

The Special Task Force (STF) arrested two persons and seized banned tablets, capsules, injections and cough syrups worth Rs 2.13 crore from their possession.

Addressing the media here on Thursday, STF IG Promod Ban stated that during checking near Sangam Palace Chowk on the Chuharpur Road here, the police team stopped an Innova and recovered 4.8 lakh banned tablets and Rs 6 lakh from the vehicle.

The police arrested SUV driver Manindervir Singh, a resident of New Patel Nagar, Haibowal Kalan. Ban said 13 kinds of banned tablets, capsules, injections and cough syrups were recovered from the store located in Manindervir’s house.

Surinder Kumar of Muradpur Jattan village in Hoshiarpur district, who works as a manager for JSK Transport Company at Transport Nagar, Ludhiana, was also arrested. During a search of the company’s godown, 2.5 lakh banned tablets were recovered.

Peddler held for addict’s death 

Tarn Taran: The police have booked Sukhdev Singh of Bhail Dhai Wala under Section 304-A of the IPC for allegedly causing the death of Bhagwant Singh (24) of Lohar village. Bhagwant Singh died three days ago after he injected a heavy dose of heroin into his body. Gurdev Singh, father of the deceased, told the police that Bhagwant had purchased the drugs from Sukhdev Singh at Fatehbad village. Sub-Inspector Sonamdeep Kaur said the accused had been arrested and sent to judicial custody. OC
