Water dispute: ASI opens fire, three injured

MUKTSAR: Three farmers of Husnar village in Gidderbaha sub-division sustained injuries when an ASI of neighbouring Babanian village allegedly opened fire at them from his service revolver over water dispute last evening.

Muktsar, November 21

Three farmers of Husnar village in Gidderbaha sub-division sustained injuries when an ASI of neighbouring Babanian village allegedly opened fire at them from his service revolver over water dispute last evening.

The injured — Kuldeep Singh, Harchand Singh and Resham Singh — were admitted to hospital in Bathinda.

A number of residents of Husnar village today protested the incident. They met the Gidderbaha SDM and later gathered at Gidderbaha police station.

They alleged that ASI Amrik Singh, his son Kuldeep Singh, brother Angrej Singh and some farm labourers attacked the natives of their village. Sources said the accused wanted excess water supply to his fields, which led to the dispute. — TNS
