Society for Promoting Scientific Knowledge

IT is gratifying to learn that His Honour the Lieutenant-Governor, who is patron of the Society for promoting Scientific Knowledge, Lahore, has been pleased to increase the amount of the annual Government grant to his Society from Rs. 200  to Rs. 1000. The grant will continue to be paid from the Sanitary budget. The Society has by common consent done good work in the past, and it has been felt for some years past that increased financial aid are required to enable it to carry on and extend knowledge of principles of sanitation and hygiene to the furthermost corners of the Punjab. To enable it to extend its sphere of activity the Society has been enabled, thanks to the generous and substantial support of the Punjab Government and the ruling Princess, including their Highness the Begum of Bhopal, the Nawab of Bahawalpur, the Maharajas of Jind and Faridkot, and the educated public, to have a suitable habitation and a home.
