Bathinda, January 27

After bright sunny days, mild showers on Monday brought down the temperature, resulting in cold weather conditions in the city. The minimum temperature for the day was recorded at 10.2° Celsius and the winds were blowing at 1 kmph.

Potato growers are a bit anxious as if the rain continues in the coming few days, it may affect the growth of the crop ahead of the harvest season. Notably, potato has been grown on approximately 6,230 acres in the district this season.

Horticulture Department officials have already warned that if it rains heavily in the coming days, farmers must make adequate arrangements to drain out water from their fields.

Meanwhile on Monday, there was less number of vehicles on roads as compared to other weekdays. Similarly, markets also wore deserted looks with usual hustle and bustle missing. Not many shoppers turned up in main markets of the city.
