Bathinda, October 21

Artists from across the state presented their paintings during the annual art workshop organised by Sobha Singh Memorial Chitarkar Society at Teachers’ Home on Sunday.

In the two-day event, as many as 45 artists are participating. The inauguration of the event was done by renowned painter Sohan Singh. In his address, he threw light on art and its significance in life.

Singh said it was essential that artists used their art to create social awareness on various subjects. Various paintings highlighted different aspects of life and nature.

On the first day of the workshop, a painting on the Amritsar train mishap drew maximum visitors to it. Paintings on political and farmer-centric subjects also got good response during the workshop.

Hardarshan Sohal, general secretary of Sobha Singh Memorial Chitarkar Society, said, “Our main focus is to provide platform to budding as well as veteran artists so that they can present their creations on various subjects concerning society. We are also putting in concerted efforts to revive the art forms that have lost their sheen with the passage of time.”

At the end, the artists were provided with certificates and prizes.
