Chandigarh: Fifteen times national shot put champion, 85-year-old Capt GS Sidhu will participate in the 40th National Masters  Athletics Championships, to be held at Andhra Pradesh from February 5 to 10. Sidhu is also a seven time national hammer throw gold medallist. His younger brother PS Sidhu, who is an Asia medal winner, will also participate in the hammer throw and discus throw event in the +75 plus category. TNS

Harvinder’s ton helps LWCC win  

Chandigarh: Harvinder Nain’s unbeaten ton helped Livewire Coaching Centre (LWCC) to defeat Cricket Supremos, Sector 44, by 74 runs to win the Ramchander Chatrapati Memorial Cricket Tournament. Batting first, LWCC boys posted 212/6 in 20 overs. Harvinder Nain posted uneaten 101 off 99 balls. He was ably supported by Pankaj (50), Takshit (22) and Gulshan (17). Rajinder Pandey and Manoj claimed two wickets each, while Sumit and Robin also took a wicket each. In reply, the Sector 44 outfit bundled out on 132 runs in 19.2 overs. Vippan Arora (82) was the only notable scorer for the side. Arun Luthra was the pick of the bowlers as he claimed 3/31, while Jasbir Singh and Nain claimed a wicket each. TNS

Golf camp from February 2

Panchkula:  A two–day golf coaching camp will be conducted at the Panchkula Golf Club from February 2. The camp will be open to both members and non– members who want to learn basics of the sport. The camp will be conducted by EGTF certified coach Ajay Gujral and golf equipment will be also provided. The interested golfers can confirm their entries with the organisers at the camp venue before February 1. TNS

Jr Golf Camp from Jan 22 

Mohali: Mohali Golf Range will start a monthly junior training programme from January 22. The programme will be open for boys and girls of above four years under the guidance of Arjuna Awardee international golfer Harmeeet Kahlon. It will be conducted three times a week and the children who are not members can also participate in it. The participations will be awarded certificates at the conclusion of the camp. The interested golfers should register at the camp venue before January 21.  TNS
