CHANDIGARH:DAV College, Chandigarh, won the overall championship in both the men’s and women’s categories in the 72nd Panjab University Inter-College Annual Athletics Meet at the Panjab University here today.

DAV College, Chandigarh, won the overall championship in both the men’s and women’s categories in the 72nd Panjab University Inter-College Annual Athletics Meet at the Panjab University here today.

In the men’s section, DAV College finished first with 137 points. SGGS College, Chandigarh, finished second with 59 points, while SCD Government College, Ludhiana, finished third with 26 points.

In the women’s section, DAV College, Chandigarh, finished first with 95 points. Khalsa College for Women, Ludhiana, finished second with 54 points, while GHG Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar, finished third with 22 points.

Long Jumper Sahil Mahabali of DAV College, Chandigarh, was adjudged the best athlete in the men’s category, while sprinter Amandeep Kaur of Khalsa College for Women, Ludhiana, was named the best athlete in the women’s category. 

The quartet of SCD Government College, Ludhiana, won the 4X400m men’s relay gold medal. The SCD College team won gold in 3 minutes, 23.60 seconds. DAV College, Chandigarh, won silver in 3:24.00, while SGGS College, Chandigarh, finished third in 3:24.70. 

In the men’s decathlon event, Shalinder Singh of DAV College, Chandigarh, won gold with 6089 points, Gagandeep Singh of PG Government College, Sector 11, won silver with 3672 points and Lovepreet Singh of Government College, Muktsar, won bronze with 3642 points.

In men’s hammer throw, Atish of DAV College, Chandigarh, won gold with a throw 57.95 metres. Amritpal Singh of SGGS College, Chandigarh, won silver with 50.50m, while Inderpreet Singh Gill of GHG Khalsa College, Ludhiana, won bronze with 43.67m.

In men’s javelin throw, Anmol Rana of SGGS College, Chandigarh, won gold with 67.87 metres. Anuj Kalera of DAV College, Chandigarh, finished second with 67.39m, while Ankit Kumar of DAV College, Chandigarh, finished third with 60.49m.

In women’s heptathlon, Khushdeep Kaur of DAV College, Chandigarh, won gold with 3894 points. Gurdeep Kaur of DAV College, Chandigarh, finished second with 3575, while Kamaldeep Kaur of GHG Khalsa Education College, Sadhar, finished third with 2711.

In women’s hammer throw, Maninderjit Kaur of Saini Bar College, Bulhowal, won gold with a throw of 50.42m. Priyanka of DAV College, Chandigarh, finished second with 44.18m, while Gurleen Kaur of SGGS Khalsa College, Mahilpur, won bronze with 36.77m.

In women’s triple jump, Renu of Khalsa College for Women, Ludhiana, won gold with 12.81m. Niharika of DAV College, Chandigarh, finished silver with 12.77m. Arshdeep Kaur of Khalsa College for Women, Ludhiana, finished third with 11.85m.
