Dilbar eases into last 16

Chandigarh, March 18 

Dilbar Darshan drubbed Tarun Sharma 6-0 6-0 in a   boys’ U-16 opening round match of the STA-AITA Talent Series Tennis Tournament at the Chandigarh Club Complex, Sector 1, here, on Monday. 

Kartik Sunil K registered a 6-2 6-0 win over Yash Solanky, while Satvik Singla packed off Rian Rattan Singh 6-1 6-3. Chaitanya Bansal edged out Nandit Negi 6-2 6-0. 

Gurpuneet Singh rallied from a set down to beat Damanpreet Singh in an intense opening round match. Gurpuneet lost the first set 6-7(6), but came back to win the next two sets 6-1 6-3 to stay alive in the competition. 

Aditya advances 

Aditya Chauhan, meanwhile, stunned Dilbar Darshan 6-2 6-4 to move into the boys’ U-14 second round. 

Pratham Gopal defeated Chaitanya Bansal 6-3 7-6(5), while Devanshu Pranjuli dispatched Rian Rattan 6-2 6-0. 

Keshav Dangi ousted Abhishek Luthra 6-0 6-1, while Arnav Malik registered an identical win over Kushagra Rawal. Yash downed Advit Tiwari 6-4 6-4.

Fateh Singh dismissed Madhav Aggarwal 6-1 6-1 and Arnav Bishnoi overcame a resilient Jashan Gupta in a see-saw battle.   

Gupta lost the opening set 6-3, but fought his way back into the match with a 7-5 win in the second set. Bishnoi, though, sealed the decider 6-3 to move into the last-16 stage.
