A fire broke out at a godown on the Hisar road where wheat of the Food and Supplies Department was stored. However, no major loss was reported in the incident.

As per information, around 90,000 wheat bags were stored inside the godown. Some labourers noticed smoke billowing out of the godown today afternoon and raised an alarm. After getting information District Food and Supplies Controller Nishant Rathee reached the spot along with officials.

Three fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the flames. Rathee said, “As many as 90,000 wheat bags have been stored at the rented godown. The entire stock is safe. Around 1,500 to 2,000 empty gunny bags were gutted in the incident.”

The exact cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained.
