The police have cracked the Savita Devi murder case, whose body was found on March 14 near Gillco Valley, Kharar, with the arrest of three persons, including her husband.

Senior Superintendent of Police Harcharan Singh Bhullar said Kirpal Singh Bajwa of Gillco Valley informed the Kharar police that when he went to his plot number 115 on the morning of March 14, he found the body of a woman lying on the rear side of shops adjoining his plot. The victim was 33 years old and a mother of three — two boys and a girl.

The police had registered a case under Section 302 and 34 of the IPC.

Bhullar said he constituted a special investigation team to solve the case under the supervision of SP (Investigation) Mohali Varun Sharma. The team included Kharar DSP Deep Kamal, DSP (Investigation), Mohali, Gurdev Singh Dhariwal, CIA Mohali in-charge Inspector Satwant Singh Sidhu and SHO, Kharar City, Inspector Bhagwant Singh. During the investigation, the victim was identified as Savita Devi of Balongi. The team found that Savita Devi was murdered by her husband Pintu in connivance with his three brothers.

Bhullar said Savita had a dispute with her husband Pintu and was living separately. Pintu used to suspect that his wife had an extramarital affair due to which he murdered Savita with the help of his brothers Amit, Deepak and Ram Kumar.

The SSP said on March 13, Amit called up his sister-in-law Savita and told her that wanted to meet her. Amit took her to Gillco Valley in a three-wheeler. Around 8.40 pm, Amit, along with the other suspects, killed Savita with a hammer and escaped from the spot. In this hustle, the keys of Pintu’s shop fell at the spot. Deepak and Amit came back later on a scooter, but they did not find the keys. They hit Savita’s head with stones to ensure that she was dead. The next day all of them escaped to Bijnor in Uttar Pradesh by a train.

Bhullar said the police had arrested Ram Kumar, Amit and Pintu of Samailpur village in Najibabad, Uttar Pradesh, and a search was on for the fourth suspect, Deepak.

The SSP said the three suspects had admitted to the crime.
