Mohali: Four gymnasts, including a girl, from Punjab State Institute of Sports (PIS), Sector 78, here have won medals in the recently concluded 63rd Punjab School State Games held at Gurdaspur. While Tamanna Sharma won a silver and a couple of bronze medals in the girls’ U-14 category, Jacky clinched a gold each in the boys’ parallel bars and Roman rings. Aman bagged a couple of bronze medals --- boys’ U-14 vault table and balance beam. Harsh finished third in the boys’ U-14 floor exercise. Tamanna and Jacky have also been selected for the School Nationals, scheduled to be held in Kolkata from November 14. — TNS

Rowing c’ship on Nov 19

Chandigarh: Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Rowing Association will organise the Senior State Championship on November 19 at Sukhna Lake. The event will witness participants compete in single sculls, double sculls, coxless pairs and coxless fours in the men’s and women’s categories, the sports body said on Saturday. The interested rowers can register for the event at the tournament venue before November18. During the competition, the association will also select rowers for the 36th Senior National Rowing Championships, scheduled to be held at Pune from December 4 to 11. — TNS

Tennis meet from Nov 18

Chandigarh: The Sunrise Tennis Academy will organise a prize money tournament for boys and girls at the Chandigarh Club, Sector 1, from November 18. During the tournament participants will compete in U-10, U-12, U-14 and U-16 categories, the organisers said here on Saturday. The interested players should register for the event before 5.30 pm on November 17, the organisers added. — TNS

Volleyball c’ship from Nov 17

Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Volleyball Association will organise the Chandigarh State Sub-Junior and Youth (boys and girls) Volleyball Championship from November 17 at the Sector 7 Sports Complex here. Players born on or after January 1, 2002, will be eligible to compete in the sub-junior category, while those born on or after January 1, 1997, can participate in the youth division, the sports body said here on Saturday. During the three-day long competition the association will also select teams for the 40th Sub-Junior and 20th Youth National Volleyball Championships to be held at Jaipur and Khandwa, Madhaya Pradesh, respectively. — TNS
