Two mechanics held for stealing car silencers in Chandigarh

Chandigarh, December 7

The police have arrested two members of a gang of thieves involved in theft of silencers of cars, at a naka in Sector 23 here. The police also recovered a silencer and a stolen scooter from their possession.

The suspects have been identified as Amit Sharma and pillion rider Amir Khan, both residents of Daria. They were carrying a car silencer with them. During interrogation, it was found that they stole the silencer of an ECO car from the Sector 22 market on December 5.

A case under Sections 379 and 411 of the IPC has been registered at the Sector 17 police station. The suspects, who are working as mechanics at the Mani Majra motor market, are also habitual of intoxicants, the police said.
