Solve drainage problem in Karnal village, DC told

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Wednesday asked Deputy Commissioner Aditya Dahiya to find a solution to the problem of drainage in the district’s Singhra village.

Khattar gave the direction after Singhra villagers led by sarpanch Navdeep Singh met him, apprising him of their problem. Stagnant water, villagers said, was damaging their crops.

They said the problem of rainwater stagnation was a long-pending one. Officials have conducted several surveys, but no solution could be found as a result of animosity between two groups of villagers.

Recently, the matter was raised at the district grievances redressal committee meeting chaired by Minister of State Nayab Singh Saini. But no headway was made.

The DC said, “The administration is serious about finding a solution. The Chief Minister has asked me to get a survey conducted again.”

Earlier, a delegation of Muslims met Khattar and greeted him Eid. “India is a country of festivals and it has a vibrant culture. Festivals give out the message of peace and harmony,” he said.

He said the ashes of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee would be immersed at two places — Pehowa in Kurukshetra and Hathni Kund barrage in Yamunanagar district.
