Surjewala: Khattar should stop daydreaming about ‘75 plus’

Randeep Singh Surjewala, Kaithal MLA and national media in charge of Congress, said the party would come back to power in the upcoming Assembly elections. He urged Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar to stop daydreaming about “75 Paar iss Baar”. He said even in the past, Congress had faced setbacks during elections but every time it returned with a majority.

Addressing party workers here on Sunday, Surjewala said during the past five years, Khattar had visited various Assembly constituencies in Kaithal district a number of times but no development work could be seen anywhere. Also, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had come to Kaithal to lay the foundation stone of a highway in 2014, which was still incomplete.

Surjewala said during the Congress regime, three sewer treatment plants, three sewer lines cleaning machines, 82 power substations, two polytechnic colleges, a driving school, 37 parks, a number of open and indoor stadiums, health centres, roads, chaupals and other development works for hundred of crores were executed while Khattar could not bring about any improvement even in Keorak village of Kaithal, adopted by him. The village gave a pitiable look even after five years.

Surjewala said contrary to the claims of the Chief Minister, corruption was rampant in the state. In Kaithal, a big land scam was under way in which Waqf Board land worth hundreds of crores, opposite the Balmiki Community Centre along Khanouri by-pass, was being occupied illegally by land mafia with support from BJP activists and the state government. The administration had turned a blind eye towards all this. He further alleged that land opposite the Bhai Udai Singh Fort here had been occupied by a wing of the saffron party.

Surjewala asked the Congress workers to get ready for the forthcoming Assembly poll and directed them to fan out in every nook and corner in an organised manner and contact the voters and explain them policies of the party.
